Safavid Persia. Sultan Sulayman I, 1666–1694 AD. Silver Abbasi (4-Shahi), dated AH1096. This beautiful large silver coin features elegant, flowing Islamic calligraphy on both sides—an artistic hallmark of Safavid coinage. Struck under Shah Sultan Sulayman I, this abbasi has been custom set in a .925 silver bezel adorned with three genuine garnets. Coin measures 23mm; bezel diameter 35mm (1 3/8").
