The front shows a Persian king or hero in a kneeling-running stance to the right, holding a dagger and bow; ancient banker’s mark on obverse / The back features a rectangular incuse punch. Coin reference: Carradice Type IV; BMC 125; SNG Kayhan 1033 for type. Encapsulated and graded Very Fine by NGC. Coin measures 14mm in diameter; archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”. Provenance: Ex De Père, WI collection. *** These siglos coins were issued by the Achaemenid Empire—the largest and most powerful empire of its time—used to pay soldiers and officials across a vast and multicultural realm that included Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Asia Minor.
