Product Description
Luristan, ancient Persia, c. 1200 - 800 BC. A huge bronze sword blade. Long, gracefully tapered leaf-shaped blade with thin raised mid-rib and 'rat-tail' tang where it would have been affixed to the sword’s pommel. The sloping edges were caused by extensive repeated sharpening on a sword-stone between battles! Intact with minor chipping. Thick olive-green patina with earthen and mineral deposits overall. L: 18 7/8” and heavy! Ex D. McKee collection, Olympia, WA; inherited from his father in law who was visiting professor at the university of Tehran from 1959-1960.
