Qing Dynasty Chinese Mirror // Circa 1644-1911 AD
Product Description
China, Qing Dynasty, 1644-1911 AD. A neat heavy bronze mirror with 4 Chinese characters in a cross pattern on its face. The markings are illegible but possibly a graduation of rank or passing examination for the original owner. The opposite side would have been polished to a mirror surface, and possibly coated with a thin layer of reflective silver in olden times. Ancient mirrors were given as good wishes for their descendants with inscriptions of auspicious long life, wealth, or notable accomplishments during the Qing and Ming dynasties. Measures 4.25" W. Ex private Arizona Collection. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
