The front depicts the Crusader cross of the Teutonic Knights upon a shield, Latin (uncial) script around / The back shows a large central cross with three pellets in the quadrants, MON - ETA - RVA - LIE (Translation: ,Moneta Revaliensis - Coin of Reval). Encapsulated and certified Extremely Fine by NGC! *** The order was formed from the remnants of the “Livonian Brothers of the Sword” after their defeat by Samogitians in 1236 at the Battle of Schaulen, after which they were incorporated into the Teutonic Knights and became known as the Livonian Order in 1237. Coin diameter 17mm, archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
