Ancient Greece. Alexander III The Great of Macedon, c. 336-323 BC. A beautiful large silver Tetradrachm struck just after his death c. 323-320 BC. The front depicts the head of Herakles facing right, wearing Nemean lion-skin headdress, paws tied before his neck / The back depicts Zeus enthroned with his feet upon a stool, holding eagle & scepter, monograms and symbols around; Greek inscription AΛEΞANΔΡOY (“Of Alexander”) behind. Excellent portrait, nice gray toning. Coin reference: HGC 3.1 910 for type. Encapsulated and graded by NGC. Coin measures 22mm diameter; archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”. Ex Heritage, Texas. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
